The 10-day wedding of Prince Abdul Mateen and Anisha Rosnah Isa Kalebic began on 7 January and included a series of traditional and religious ceremonies as well as public festivities.
Finally, after ten days of pomp and opulence, the kingdom of Brunei returned to normal and one of the Sultan’s sons and his wife were able to start their married life.
Once declared one of Asia’s most eligible bachelors – Prince Abdul Mateen of Brunei is now a fully-fledged husband, happy to have found a bride to match. Where exactly did this gorgeous 29-year-old come from?
While not many details are known about how their relationship blossomed, it’s reported that the two have been dating for years, with the prince having met Anisha through her brother, Danial Isa Kelbic, a childhood friend of Abdul’s.
The bride comes from a prestigious family, with her grandfather, Pehin Dato Isa, a special adviser to the Sultan of Brunei.
As for Anisha, she studied at the University of Bath in the UK and is now a successful entrepreneur in Brunei. She founded the fashion house Silk Collective and owns a travel company called Authentirary with a close friend.
In her spare time, the newly-minted princess has opened an Instagram page dedicated to food, where she posts her own recipes and cooking tips. However, the account has not been used since January 2022.
But even if the bride’s family is a good one, it doesn’t compare to the one she joined, that of Prince Abdul Mateen.
His father, the Sultan of Brunei, is one of the richest men in the world, with a net worth of more than £24bn, mostly due to oil and gas exports.
Abdul, 32, is the fourth son and tenth child of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, 77, and his second wife, Mariam Abdul Aziz, 67.
It remains to be seen whether this elegant and ambitious brunette will make a splash in this small but particularly wealthy kingdom and establish herself as one of Asia’s most popular female royal figures. She has all the qualities to do it.
